The Cape of Good Hope, at the tip of the peninsula, and the penguin colony at Boulders Beach in Simon’s Town are both worth the scenic drive south. 

The Winelands – Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Paarl – are under an hour by road and between them offer some of the finest wine estates and restaurant tables in the southern hemisphere. Franschhoek in particular, with its Cape Dutch architecture and exceptional concentration of serious restaurants, rewards a dedicated day.
