Cape TownElgr is situated on Kloof Street, in the city of Cape Town, with a menu that works closely with local farmers and suppliers who provide high quality produce. Known for offering sumptuous shared plates, the restaurant has a spacious courtyard outside and a bar, where local wine and cocktails are served.Two new Cape Town restaurants worth visiting are Hacienda and OuzeriHacienda is inspired by authentic Mexican cuisine, and the food is also paired with exclusively selected Tequilas and Mezcals from the Baja California peninsula region in Mexico. Ouzeri is a new Greek Cypriot Restaurant in Cape Town, influenced by authentic regional cooking of Cyprus and Greece, as well as contemporary plates inspired by the owners’ Mediterranean travels.
Pier Restaurant and The Waterside Restaurant on the V u0026amp; A Waterfront are perfect if you fancy waterside dining, in a relatively quiet location away from the busy Waterfront shopping district. These two excellent restaurants are situated in the beautiful Pierhead Building with Pier Restaurant on the first floor, and The Waterside Restaurant on the ground floor. Each restaurant is different, but offers an equally exceptional, dining experience.Cape Town also offers excellent restaurants for those who love exotic Eastern flavours, which include Kyoto Garden and Thali. Thali is a contemporary Indian restaurant created around the concept of ‘thali’. It offers a complete meal consisting of three courses including at least 10 regional dishes, ranging from milder flavours to hotter curries.The Pot Luck Club is situated in The Old Biscuit Mill complex, this top-floor restaurant is loved for its atmosphere, food, excellent service and the amazing views. Suitable both for couples and larger groups, the menu here comprises creative and delicious sharing plates.

Beau ConstantiaBeau Constantia, situated at the top of Constantia Nek with views to the sea at False Bay, is just a 20 minute drive south of the city of Cape Town. Beau Constantia offers wine tastings 7 days a week (Monday to Thursday from 11:00 – 18:00, Friday to Sunday from 11:00 – 20:00). The award winning restaurant here, Chefs’ Warehouse at Beau Constantia, sits in a beautiful location overlooking the rolling vineyards, and False Bay in the distance. The wonderful dining experience here offers both an informal friendly service, as well as a delicious four-course set menu that changes frequently with seasonal produce.  La Colombe – Beau Constantia is one of our favourites, with its wonderful views over the Constantia wine valley, False Bay and Hout Bay. Coupled with a wonderful wine list, the food here is a fusion of Asian and French cuisine, using fresh seasonal produce.Foxcroft – High Constantia is situated around 20 minutes from the city centre, this popular restaurant works with both the best local farmers, and finest international suppliers, and with a commitment to quality and flavour.
FranschoekFranschoek is a small beautiful and historical town in the Western Cape Province, and one of the oldest towns in South Africa. As well as its French history, it is known for its beautiful scenery, art galleries and boutiques, and with its wonderful cuisine and wines, it is considered by many as the food and wine capital of the country.Epice – Le Quartier Francais is a fine-dining restaurant known for both its stylish interiors, and its delicious cuisine produced by chef Charné Sampson. Inspired by spices, ranging from spicy-hot chili and ginger to delicate vanilla, saffron, cinnamon and nutmeg, the fine-dining tasting menus will take you on a globe-trotting flavour journey.Chefs Warehouse at Maison is situated on the edge of the historic Franschhoek Village, the restaurant is wonderful for dining outside during the summer. A four-course contemporary set-menu is offered at lunch or dinner.
La Petite Colombe is another imaginative restaurant offering a high level of unique dishes. The innovative chef, John Norris Rogers offers delicious multi-course lunches and dinners in a lovely location. By day, the floor to ceiling glass gives the feeling of being in the surrounding vineyards. With three Michelin stars, the restaurant has consistently received world-wide acclaim for its outstanding Chefs Menu.Boschendal, The Werf Restaurant is set in a beautiful refurbished wine cellar of a Manor House, and offers a small daily menu of delicious country-style cuisine. Offering the best of available local, seasonal ingredients, the chefs here have a reputation for creative dishes and the wine is excellent.
OKU is situated on the main road in Franschoek, and exudes South-east Asian culture, including unique bonsai trees decorating the walls. The menu offers traditional Asian-themed dishes using high-quality local and seasonal produce. Guests can also choose local wines, or sake, including house brand beer sakes.Protégé, located at Le Quartier Français hotel, offers stunning surroundings, as well as a delicious, flavour-packed and refined meals. The restaurant is designed around a central show kitchen, and there are also alfresco dining areas. Tucked away in the heart of the scenic Franschhoek Valley, Le Quartier Français offers both beautiful vineyard and mountain views, as well as exceptional cuisine.
Le Lude is a wine farm situated in the picturesque Franschhoek Valley, on the edge of Franschhoek Village. A family-owned boutique winery, La Lude offers both a wine cellar and also the Orangerie Restaurant, Open for lunch only, the menu offers French cuisine, with an Asian twist. There is also an excellent list of local wines, and there is also a daily afternoon tea menu.Babylonstoren Babel is one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms, which dates back to 1692, Babylonstoren is situated in the Franschhoek wine valley and offers a great selection of food and wine experiences, ranging from its fruit and vegetable garden to its wonderful Babel Restaurant.
StellenboschThe oldest wine route in South Africa, scenic Stellenbosch in the Western Cape’s coastal region is one of the most popular destinations for both local and international visitors. The most famous wine producing region in South Africa, Stellenbosch has many award-winning wine estates, as well as some great restaurants.The following four restaurants are run by Bertus Basson whose restaurants have been awarded prestigious accolades from restaurant guides, including the Eat Out Guide and Rossouw’s Restaurant Guide. Since 2007, his establishments have grown into a family of restaurants that include Clara’s Barn, a beautiful restaurant situated in the oldest barn in the Western Cape at Vergenoegd Löw, a working wine farm. With a modern South African Farm kitchen, guests will enjoy creative 3 and 5 course menu. The other recommended restaurants are Geuwels, Eike and Chorus.
The Table at De Meye is situated on a wine producing estate, and has an indoor restaurant as well a beautiful lawned garden with outdoor dining tables under the shade of large trees. De Meye is in an idyllic location, and offers a 3-course sharing menu, using homegrown produce from its kitchen garden.Tucked away on the beautiful Delaire Graaf Estate is the 5-star Indochine restaurant, offering Asian-inspired cuisine, including delicious tapas presented in an art form, as well as signature dishes like pork belly and duck – offering an all-sensory dining experience.
Dusk Restaurant is another fine dining restaurant concept by chefs Darren Badenhorst and Callan Austin offering a 13 course tasting menu depending on local produce and the time of year. The dishes are also paired with both local wine favourites, as well as an international selection. The Cavalli Estate, set in 100 hectares, in the prestigious Helderberg region of Stellenbosch, is known for its architecture, gardens, and art. With 26 hectares of vineyards producing award-winning wine, the restaurant here offers excellent local sustainable cuisine.
Hout BayJust a 20 minute drive from Cape Town, the small coastal town of Hout Bay is known for its beautiful blue sea and mountains. Visitors here can enjoy activities like surfing, swimming, kayaking and various sporting activities, as well as the local restaurants, including the two below.Chapmans Peak Hotel Restaurant was established over 25 years ago and has a reputation for its famous calamari and seafood. The terrace here has a wonderful view of the beach and sunsets, ideal for dining during the summer. Visitors can choose wine from the wine cellar to accompany the delicious seafood dishes, steaks and salads.Chefs Warehouse at Tintswalo Atlanticis also set right by the sea, the restaurant here is in a boutique hotel at the foot of Chapman’s Peak Drive, and uses marine products sourced from a selection of small, sustainable local suppliers.
Hermanus and OverbergJust 1 ½ hours drive from the city of Cape Town, this area offers a beautiful landscape of rolling hills and beaches, as well as the resort town of Hermanus, which has earned a reputation as the best land-based whale-watching destination in Africa. There is plenty to enjoy inland as well, including nature reserves, lakes, birds and flowers. Hermanus is also known for its gourmet restaurants, fertile winelands, and impressive selection of boutique shops and galleries.The Restaurant at Newton Johnson is a part of The Newton Johnson Vineyards’ winery, nestled high in the mountainside, 9 kms from Hermanus and with wonderful views over the valley and the Atlantic Ocean below. The restaurant offers fine wines, and meals using local ingredients, mainly grown on the farm.
Spookfontein Restaurant is perched up in the hills of the Hemel en Aarde valley and has views to the mountains, fynbos-clad hills and vineyards. The creative Spookfontein Restaurant turns locally-sourced ingredients, into delicious meals, and there is also a wine cellar and tasting room.Mogg’s Country Cookhouse is located in the beautiful Hemel en Aarde (Heaven and Earth) Valley outside Hermanus in the Western Cape province of South Africa and is a family run restaurant, surrounded by mountains, fields, fruits, and vines. It is truly a magnificent valley and well worth a visit when you come to Hermanus to enjoy the coastal scenery, watch the whales or taste the wines of the area.
