Nestled in the historic winelands of Stellenbosch, this private 5-acre estate offers 700 sqm of luxury villa living, just a 10-minute drive from the town centre. The recently refurbished Sir Herbert Baker-style manor house features six en-suite bedrooms, each with its own balcony showcasing panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards and the distant Helderberg Mountains.
This secluded estate is framed by rose gardens, lavender fields, and rolling lawns that lead down to a wildflower meadow, where a Victorian-style glasshouse, vintage carousel, and showman’s caravan add a touch of whimsical charm. The secret steam room overlooks a natural dam with an eco-pool and zipline – a serene spot for quiet reflection.
The ground floor includes a welcoming reception area that flows onto a terrace and a tasting room with a private wine cellar. Inside, the blue gin bar leads to a 10-seater formal dining room, perfect for entertaining. Meals are prepared in a spacious, fully equipped kitchen complete with an authentic AGA stove, ideal for social cooking. Evenings can be enjoyed in the elegant drawing room, study, or library, all with fireplaces and decorated in timeless old-world style, with carefully curated antiques and artwork throughout.
Upstairs, a cosy central media and entertainment area with fireplace provides a relaxed space for cooler nights.
The Pool Pavilion features a solar-heated swimming pool and three additional bedrooms with a fully equipped kitchenette. The Family Suite includes a king-size bed, two single beds, and a full en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom has a king-size bed, and the third a queen-size bed – both with en-suite bathrooms.
The Victorian glasshouse, nestled beneath 100-year-old oak trees, is a sun-drenched sanctuary with its own fireplace – ideal for intimate gatherings.
The expansive gardens are a delight to explore. Begin at the herb garden, home to fig, avocado, and lemon trees, and continue through a whimsical themed playground featuring life-size Alice in Wonderland characters. The estate’s three friendly hounds often roam the grounds, adding to the homely feel.
Highlights include the eco-pool for wild swimming and an outdoor pizza oven – perfect for alfresco entertaining in a setting that’s both enchanting and serene.
