Franschhoek Residence luxury villa rental is nestled at the foot of the Simonsberg Mountains, in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Built in 2009 as the owners’ private home on a historic farm dating back to 1688, the property beautifully blends history with French and African contemporary aesthetics.

Set within a sprawling 55-hectare estate surrounded by vineyards, weeping willows, and a picturesque dam, the residence offers stunning views of the Franschhoek Mountains in the distance. This impressive 1,400 m² luxury villa rental exudes a warm, homely atmosphere – perfect for families or groups of up to 12 seeking a relaxing retreat.

The spacious six-bedroom home is designed for year-round comfort, featuring modern amenities and state-of-the-art technology. In the warmer months, guests can enjoy the large swimming pool and air conditioning, while underfloor heating and a sizeable wood-burning fireplace create a cosy ambiance during the cooler season.

Additional facilities include a small gym equipped with a treadmill, exercise bike, and weights, as well as a treatment room furnished with two massage beds. This serene space is ideal for arranging professional massages and beauty treatments or hosting yoga sessions.

For younger guests, there is a dedicated and welcoming playground area, ensuring the entire family feels at home.

The exterior features a terrace furnished with comfortable outdoor seating and a TV, perfect for relaxing. A long bar overlooks the garden, creating an ideal spot to welcome the evening with a glass of wine. The villa also boasts a large, uncovered swimming pool accompanied by four sun loungers for sun-drenched days, as well as a manicured lawn and a dedicated playground area for children. A wooden deck with stairs overlooks a catch-and-release fishing dam, complete with an adjacent fire pit and seating area for cosy gatherings.

The Franschhoek Valley and town offers plenty of activities to keep the whole family entertained while on vacation. One of the best ways to discover the area is the Wine Tram hop-on hop-off tour through the picturesque vineyards, offering breath-taking scenery and warm hospitality with world-class cuisine and fine wines. On a sunny day, with the required permits it’s possible to cycle all the way up the steep Simonsberg mountains, and various other biking areas for those less avid cyclists.

The nearby area also offers Premier Fly Fishing at various trout farms offering rainbow Trout and Small Mouth Bass in crystal clear dams and rivers. The area offers some of South Africa’s most beautiful hiking trails, the Franschhoek Mountains, Drakenstein Mountains and adjacent Boland Mountains offer both day hikes and overnight hikes. Start with a stroll on the 55ha estate that allows you to explore the vineyards and takes you up the mountain for spectacular views.

The more adventurous hikers can opt for the tougher challenges, with some trails requiring permits. For those looking for something a little different, there are also horse carriage rides available on the estate and or wine tasting on horseback, at a neighbouring farm. The main street of Franschhoek offers plenty of boutique shopping, lined with many restaurants to rest your feet, as well as spa’s to unwind with a relaxing massage.
