The beautiful Villa Scordia luxury villa rental in Sicily is situated in the east, between Mt Etna and the sea, and is surrounded by lush gardens, hillsides, pastures and orange groves. The estate specialises in producing high quality organic varieties of citrus fruit, as well as having a collection of palm species from around the world. Within one hour’s drive you can visit Mount Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe, the city of Catania with the “Pescheria” (the famous fish market), Teatro Massimo Bellini, Castello Ursino, and numerous other archeological sites and museums. Also not to be missed are Piazza Armerina’s famous Roman mosaics, Villa del Casale in Syracusa, famous for its Greek history, and Militello Val di Catania and Noto, known for their exquisite Baroque architecture and UNESCO World Heritage sites. A bit further and you can enjoy the Greek theatre and good shopping in Taormina, or head south to the Valle dei Templi in Agrigento, yet another World Heritage site.

The main house of the villa has 8 bedrooms (3 double bedrooms and 5 twin bedrooms, which can be made up as doubles on request). Four bedrooms are on the upper garden level and the rest at ground garden level. All have private balconies, or direct access to the gardens. They are equipped with Wi-Fi, heating, air conditioning and colonial ceiling fans. En-suite bathrooms feature traditional Sicilian ceramics and supplied with hand-made scented soaps and the finest toiletries. Also on the upper garden level is the library, an ideal place to relax. A short walk away through the garden is the Orangerie, where there is a cosy living room and dining area, with beautiful stone fireplace, for cooler autumn evenings. This spacious and comfortable seating area is perfect for enjoying the scenery from the large windows, or enjoying board games, satellite TV and stereo with i-Pod connection. There is also a large music and film library and a bar, and a home cinema. Adjacent is the dining-room where guests can enjoy either intimate meals, or as many as 60 people for special occasions.

On the upper floor of the Orangerie is the Belvedere, a multifunctional space with breathtaking views of Mount Etna and surrounding valleys. This quiet space is perfect for meetings, meditation or yoga workshops. Within the garden, close to the Orangerie, is a fabulous swimming pool, with seating, sunbathing and dining areas. Shaded by palms and surrounded by lush gardens, guests can relax on comfortable sun beds, or on the air-conditioned terrace at the Orangerie. There is also a tennis court at the property, situated within an orange grove. A lighting system on the synthetic grass and sand court allows for playing tennis day and night. There is also an elegant Finnish sauna surrounded by an orange grove, which can accommodate six people, an outdoor shower to cool off and a dressing room.
