This is also one of the most accessible of the Greek Islands, with direct flights from many European airports. With over 3 million olive trees, Corfu is also one of the greenest of the Greek Islands.
As part of the Ionian island group, it has a long and fascinating history, with Greek, Roman, Venetian, French and British occupations all leaving their marks. To help preserve the architecture and historic monuments, including the two forts, Corfu town is on the UNESCO world heritage list. The Old Fortress, dating from the 6th century was built by the Venetians and housed the entire population of the town until the 13th century. A stroll through the Old Fortress will take you through tunnels, past abandoned barracks to bastions and look-out points. The top of the fortress gives a panoramic view overlooking Corfu Town.
Our luxury villas to rent in Corfu are mainly on the north-east of the island, in quiet locations, yet close to the beach and pretty fishing villages of Kassiopi and Agios Stefanos, both with a good choice of local shops, tavernas and bars. Nearby Avlaki, has a long, white-pebbled beach with clear water, ideal for swimming. A small sailing school and water sports centre here is open in peak season, and a selection of tavernas and cafes serve local cuisine. A little further, at Kaminaki, Nissaki, Kalami and Kerasia there are waterside tavernas serving lunches and romantic dinners. We are also offering a magnificent luxury villa to rent that is situated on a private estate at Kanoni, with its own water frontage, just 5 kms south of Corfu town
All the luxury villa rentals we feature have private swimming pools and enjoy spectacular views over the Ionian Sea. All include maid service and other services can be arranged for guests, including massage and beauty treatments, yacht charter, airport transfers and car hire.

Corfu rewards those with their own transport – its varied landscape of mountain villages, olive groves, and dramatic coastline demands the freedom to explore at will. A private driver is invaluable for evening dining and excursions to the north. We work with a small number of trusted, discreet drivers and can arrange dedicated transport for the duration of your stay.
Corfu Airport sits on the southern edge of the capital, placing most properties between twenty minutes and an hour away. A pre-arranged private transfer is the most seamless arrival – let us organise this ahead of your trip.
Corfu Town’s UNESCO-listed old city – Venetian lanes, French arcades, and British colonial architecture layered across a compact peninsula – is best explored on foot. The north of the island around Kassiopi is quieter and more verdant, and Paleokastritsa’s turquoise coves beneath a Venetian monastery are spectacular in the early morning before the crowds arrive.
The Old Fortress and Liston arcade are the town’s defining landmarks. The Achilleion Palace, built for Empress Elisabeth of Austria in the hills above Benitses, is an extraordinary period piece with sweeping views across to the Albanian coast.
Paxos is ninety minutes south by ferry – tiny, car-free, and unhurried, with some of the clearest water in the Ionian. Albania’s Butrint, a UNESCO World Heritage site of exceptional quality, is reachable by ferry in under two hours. We can arrange private charters and tailored itineraries for either.
Corfu Town’s backstreet tavernas in the Campiello quarter are the place for traditional Corfiot cooking – sofrito, pastitsada, and bourdeto best found away from the waterfront. The fishing village of Agni on the northeast coast, with its three legendary tavernas directly on the water, is the most beautiful setting for a long seafood lunch on the island.
