Full Description
A luxury four-bedroomed, secluded villa rental nestled amidst the forest and rolling fields of the Alentejo countryside, just one hour east of Lisbon. This remarkable property has been cherished by the family for more than 100 years. The current owners have honoured their grandfather’s vision by undertaking sensitive renovations under the expert guidance of renowned architect Manuel Aires Mateus.
Originally built as a family residence, this luxury villa in Alentejo embodies a deep ancestral connection to the land and a profound love for the surrounding natural beauty. It serves as an idyllic gathering place for friends, family, and travellers seeking tranquillity and authenticity.
Portuguese culture is richly reflected in its architecture, with structural elements and design remaining faithful to the local vernacular, thereby honouring the legacy of Portuguese history. Dramatic doors elegantly blur the boundaries between the expansive views of the Alentejo countryside and the villa’s minimalist interiors, flooding the space with natural light.
There is a fully equipped white marble kitchen, which is the ideal place to rustle up local cuisine. Enjoy gatherings of family and friends at the large dining table, which sits in front of a huge window overlooking a beautiful swimming pool. The lounge is a luminous area, fitted with white sofas and a uniquely designed fireplace, making it a cosy area to bring an end social evenings. There is heating but no air conditioning. The insulation of the house allows it to stay cool even during the warmest months.
Patios and rooms offer shelter while the floors are paved with traditional local clay tiles, providing warmth and a sense of togetherness during the winter months, and coolness and calm throughout the summer. The atmosphere encourages quiet reflection, mindfulness, and fresh perspectives.
Spend sun-drenched days relaxing by the swimming pool, cycling through the serene surroundings, interacting with the resident animals, and harvesting exceptional produce from the vegetable garden. Casa Cano invites you to experience the perfect balance of rustic charm and refined luxury in the heart of Alentejo.
