The Villa Ortensia luxury villa to rent in Tuscany is situated in a very picturesque, privately owned 11th century hamlet, halfway between Florence and Rome. From its hilltop location there are wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. Within the hamlet are a total of five impeccably designed villas which can sleep up to a total of 34 guests. There is also a one-Michelin star restaurant that serves Mediterranean cuisine and specializes in home-made Tuscan pasta with locally sourced ingredients. In the hamlet a former barn has been transformed into a theatre that can also be used for wedding receptions, conferences, exhibitions, concerts or any other celebration. There is also a small 16th century church. The closest village is San Casciano dei Bagni, just a 10 minute drive away.
The villa is set within its own private walled garden, beautifully maintained and filled with box hedges, cypresses, lemon trees, grape vines, hydrangeas and roses. The heated swimming pool (12 x 5m) with pool house and full changing and shower facilities is just two minutes’ walk from the house, in a separate garden with dramatic vistas. There is also a pool house with full changing and shower facilities. There is also a lovely outdoor dining area under a wisteria-clad pergola.
This historic property was painstakingly restored with the help of acclaimed interior decorators David Mlinaric and Hugh Henry. David Mlinaric, who has worked on properties for the British National Trust and was described by the New York Times as “England’s foremost decorator of period interiors”. Amenities include Wi-Fi, TV, DVD player, stereo, I-pod dock, central heating, magnifying mirrors in all bathrooms, crisp Egyptian cotton bed linen and generous fluffy towels. Use of a barbecue and baby equipment are available on request.

The dining room with beamed ceiling, terracotta tiled floors is connected to a fully-equipped kitchen by an archway. There is also a library area, with fireplace. Two twin bedrooms and a double bedroom, all with en-suite bathrooms.

The master bedroom with dressing room, private sitting room and large en-suite bathroom, takes up the entire top floor.
