Chateaux Île Sainte-Marguerite

Refurbished in 2022, Chateaux Île Sainte-Marguerite is the 13th-century luxury villa rental in a private walled estate and the sole private property on the island of Sainte Marguerite. This luxury villa rental on the Cote d’Azur is a rare hidden gem and is rooted in the region’s colourful history that boasts authentic French Riviera designs, as well as being one of the most exclusive properties in the South of France. It’s all watched over by an old fortress and offers complete privacy from the outside world, with dazzling views in the evenings of Cannes sparkling lights. The 14,000m2 botanic garden offers sweet-smelling citrus trees, tranquil and trickling natural water pools, that overlook an idyllic pool dotted with water lilies that can be enjoyed in the Mediterranean heat, alternatively savour a moment in wine cellar, or library on vacation.

Chateaux Île Sainte-Marguerite features sustainable yet elegant materials, including rock flooring, white and grey marble, as well as neutral beige and teak wood floors. Its clean-lined architecture reflects the iconic French Riviera glamour. This private estate on Sainte Marguerite also offers a Hammam and Sauna with spa therapists as it is been designed to promote the wellbeing of the guests staying here: from the elegant and airy rooms to the hot stone walkways that lead to the fitness centre while enjoying their holiday along the Cote D’Azur.

12 bedrooms – 24 guests

There are 12 bedrooms across seven separate buildings in the three-and-a-half-acre property, the Governor’s House, three Cottages, a guest house, the Wellness building and the old fortress tower, in total accommodating 24 guests. There are 11 bathrooms & 12 bedrooms, all fitted with Super King size beds and coffee machines.

Governor’s House

Situated in the left side of the  considered the main building of the estate and spreads over two floors internally connected via stairs.

Ground floor

Living room (52mqs): The entrance opens up on a spacious and bright living room that offers a large L-shaped sofa that sits 8 people and a comfortable armchair in light grey. A patio with outdoor furnishings is accessible via arched large French windows.

Dining room (34mqs): The spacious dining room is separated yet directly accessible from the living room and is a mixture of elegant yet toned down contemporary design and furniture. It boasts a dining table that sits 12 people and has direct access to the gardens at the back of the estate.

First floor  

Master bedroom (53mqs): The first floor of the Governor’s house is solely dedicated to the spacious elegant master bedroom. The entrance opens up onto a private sitting area with an armchair and coffee table overlooking the biggest water. On the left side from the entrance, we find the king size bed that faces the front of the property while the large separate walk in closet is on the opposite end. Its ensuite bathroom is accessible through the walk in closet and boasts a walk-in shower, a wc and a double sink.

Guest House

The guest house is the building situated on the right side of the garden upon entrance. It spreads over two floors and it is not internally connected.

Ground floor:

This floor is ideal for a family of four as the following rooms are interconnected and share the ensuite bathroom.

Bedroom 1 (37mqs) + Bedroom 2 (33mqa): the entrance of the Guest House opens onto the working desk of Bedroom 1, which boasts a king size bed and storage. The door on the right side of the bed leads directly into Bedroom 2, which features a king size bed, storage and the ensuite bathroom. Please note that guests staying in Bedroom 1 will have to walk through Bedroom 2 to reach the shared bathroom. The ensuite features a double sink and a double shower, while the wc has its own dedicated space within the ensuite.

First floor:

The first floor of the Guest House can be reached via only an external staircase and there are two symmetrical bedrooms with an ensuite bathroom each.

Bedroom 3 & Bedroom 4 (35mqs): they are both in similar size and semi-identical layout. In each bedroom we find a king size bed in the centre of the room and an ensuite accessible from the rear side of each bed. Each ensuite bathroom features a double sink, a spacious walk in shower and a separated wc.

Cottage 1 (39mqs): it features a king size bed, a sitting area and storage. Its ensuite bathroom features a spacious walk in shower, a double sink and a separated wc. It also has direct garden access.

Cottage 2 (36mqs): it features a king size bed, a sitting area and storage. Its ensuite bathroom features a spacious walk in shower, a double sink and a separated wc. It also has direct garden access.

Cottage 3: it features a king size bed  and ample storage. Its ensuite bathroom features a walk in shower, a double sink and a separated wc. It also has direct garden access.

The Wellness Area Building

The wellness area building spreads on the ground floor and boasts three ample bedroom suites as well as the wellness area, which consists of a fitness room and a spa area.

Suite 1 (64m2): It has access to a private balcony with outdoor furniture and is the largest bedroom of this floor. It features a king size bed, a working desk and plenty of storage. Its ensuite offers a double sink facing a bath tub, a separated shower room with a dedicated area for the w.c.

Suite 2 (55m2) and 3 (70m2): They are next to each other and each has access to a private balcony with outdoor furniture. They feature  a king size bed, a working desk and plenty of storage each as well as an ensuite bathroom each. Their ensuite offer respectively a double sink, a walk-in shower and a dedicated area for the w.c.

Wellness Area

The right side of this building is entirely dedicated to the wellness area of the estate. Here we will find a separated fitness room with Technogym equipment that include a treadmill and an exercise bike, two separated rooms with spa beds: one has two and the other one has one bed. At the end of this area there are showers, a hammam and a sauna.

The Tower

Ground floor

The entrance opens up onto a large bright space, where we also find the wine cellar.

Tower Bedroom (40m2): This fantastic bedroom boasts a king size bed, two separate dressing rooms, and an ensuite bathroom, which is split between wc area + sink and shower room + sink. This bedroom also has two private balconies with sweeping views of the garden and the sea.

Outdoor Highlights

The swimming pool (7x7m) area is at the same first level of the guest house and it features shaded sun beds, umbrellas, two outdoor seating areas and a loggia with an outdoor dining area that features a dining table that sits 24 people.

As previously mentioned, the estate boasts large gardens and it also gives access to the secluded rocky beach with pristine waters.

Location

This unique luxury villa on Sainte-Marguerite island is situated only one-minute walk away from a nice rocky beach that also offers the under-water eco-museum with plenty of sculptures from Jason deCaires Taylor or 10 minutes from the lovely Beach des Pierres Hautes.  The renowned French restaurant La Guérite is under 15 minutes walk, while major shops and bars are located in Cannes. Cannes is just a 10 minutes boat ride from Sainte-Marguerite island.

• Daily Breakfast, lunch and dinner preparation and ingredients are included in the cost of the rental.  Lunch and dinner include: a starter, a main course and the dessert.
