Villa Hvar luxury villa to rent in Croatia lies in the very centre and historical core of Hvar, the main town of the island of Hvar , considered by many to be one of the most attractive islands of the Adriatic. This rental villa in Hvar stands just 20 metres from the waterfront (riva), and the promenade, where yachts and boats from all over the world dock in the summer. The rich history and culture of the town is visible at every step; highlights include the Fortica fortress, the cathedral of Hvar, the Franciscan monastery, and one of the Europe’s oldest public theatres, established in 1612. The town offers an extensive range of restaurants and taverns, and cafés and bars and night clubs. Numerous bays and beaches lie within close reach, set against a backdrop of vineyards and olive groves. There are more sunny, secluded coves on the beautiful set of islands called the Pakleni Otoci, which lie opposite the town. One of the very best experiences you can have during your stay on Hvar is sailing. There are endless secret natural bays with clear turquoise sea just waiting to be discovered. The owner can arrange a boat and skipper, and also recommend special restaurants accessible by boat, where only fish caught minutes ago is served on your plate!

The main part of the villa was built between 1590 and 1612, during the Baroque period, when Venice had a strong influence on the entire Adriatic area; for a long time it was owned by the Marchi family, one of the oldest Italian families in Hvar. Today, it is under the watchful eye of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, which oversaw the renovations that took place 2007- 2009. The Baroque stone balcony of this rental villa offers views of the Croatian waterfront, the boats in the harbour, the Fortica fortress, as well as the Pakleni Otoci. Adjacent to the house is a large garden (200 sq m), enclosed by a stone wall over 2m high, and planted with lemons, oranges, figs, lavender and rosemary.

The medieval Gothic House, which forms an integral part of the garden and is connected to the Baroque House on the ground floor, contains a heated pool (6 x 4m) that can be transformed from an indoor to an outdoor pool by pulling back the moveable walls and opening the roof. There is an outdoor dining table seating 10 people, as well as garden furniture, and deckchairs by the pool. The villa complex has a floor area of 450 square metres laid out on three levels. The Baroque House contains a large living room with a library and fireplace, a kitchen and dining room, and five double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The Gothic House contains the pool, and, on the lowest floor, the wellness facilities (sauna, Jacuzzi, massage room), plus a wine cellar, with a selection of first-class Croatian and foreign wines, including Hvar’s own celebrated Plavac. All the main areas of the villa are heated and air-conditioned, as well as furnished with first-class new or antique furniture. Guests also have at their disposal ice machines, a wine refrigerator, satellite LCD TVs, a DVD player with home cinema, telephone and wireless Internet connections, and a safe.
