Costa Smeralda Bay offers some of the most beautiful and glamorous white sandy beaches as well as sailing along its infamous coastline. We have an enticing collection of luxury holiday villa rentals in the north of Sardinia, at Costa Smeralda Bay, famous for its beautiful white sand beaches. The Costa Smeralda is a stretch of 10 kms situated between the bay of Arzachena and the Gulf of Cugnana, with an array of idyllic luxury villa holiday rentals. Despite custom-built resorts, such as Porto Cervo, with its cafés, bars, restaurants and designer boutiques, there are strict planning controls, ensuring the natural surroundings are protected.
Among the many beautiful locations here is Portisco, a small village between Porto Rotondo and Porto Cervo, popular for those who love the coastline and also a favourite for sailing enthusiasts, water sports, wind surfing, scuba diving and diving centres. Marina Di Portisco is also just a short distance away, and within easy reach of the mainland of Italy which is accessible by ferry. Porto Cervo is one of the most glamorous beach towns on the Costa Smeralda, founded in the 1960s by Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, and has become popular for celebrities from around the world. As well as wonderful beaches, Sardinia is also known for its endless sunshine, interesting archaeological sites as well as great restaurants and excellent wine. To get to the Costa Smeralda, it is best to fly into Olbia Airport which is just a 30 minute ride away. Our personal carefully curated collection of luxury villas to rent in Sardinia enjoy a privileged location along the coastline, with majestic sea views and are all within a short distance from the sea.

Sardinia is a large island and demands its own transport – its dramatic coastal roads, mountain passes, and the tracks descending to the most secluded coves are best explored with the freedom to stop at will. A private driver is invaluable for evening dining and longer excursions into the interior. We work with a small number of trusted, discreet drivers and can arrange dedicated transport for the duration of your stay.
Sardinia has three international airports – Olbia in the northeast for the Costa Smeralda, Cagliari in the south, and Alghero in the northwest. All are served by direct flights from most major European cities. A pre-arranged private transfer is the most seamless arrival – let us organise this ahead of your trip.
The Costa Smeralda’s emerald water and granite headlands are the island’s most celebrated coastline, but the real Sardinia lies beyond it – the Gallura interior, the nuraghi-dotted Barbagia highlands, and the extraordinary western coast around Bosa and the Gulf of Oristano reward those who venture inland. Alghero, with its Catalan architecture and lively old town on a promontory above the sea, is the most characterful town on the island.
The nuraghi – the Bronze Age stone towers unique to Sardinia and found across the island in extraordinary numbers – are among the most mysterious and compelling ancient monuments in the Mediterranean. Su Nuraxi at Barumini, the finest and most extensive nuraghe complex, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and essential. The Grotta di Nettuno, a spectacular sea cave accessible by boat or a dramatic clifftop staircase near Alghero, is one of the most beautiful natural landmarks in Italy.
Alghero’s old town is the place for lobster alla catalana and bottarga – Sardinia’s prized cured grey mullet roe. The agriturismi of the Barbagia interior offer the island’s most authentic table: roast suckling pig, pane carasau and local Cannonau in settings of complete simplicity. For a considered meal, Ristorante Fradis Minoris near Pula combines a serious kitchen with one of the south’s most beautiful coastal settings.
