The Villa Galbino luxury villa to rent in Tuscany sits tucked away in the hills of Arezzo, just 4 kms from the charming medieval town of Anghiari, with its narrow streets, and surrounded by 13th Century walls. The villa is actually a small 9 bedroom castle on a large estate, also with gatehouse, farm buildings and surrounding fields and hills covered in olive groves and woodland. It is located a 30 minute drive from the larger centre of Arezzo, and offers a peaceful holiday base on a crossroads between Tuscany and Umbria, perfect for exploring both regions.
Full of character, the castle has a square shape with a raised central section and four round towers on the corners. Elegant arched loggias with stone columns, added during its renaissance period conversion, run along two sides. A glazed loggia with frescoed vaulted ceilings leads to a small chapel. The living room, library, study and dining room and four bedrooms are on the first floor, with the dining room opening via French windows to a terrace with outdoor dining area. The loggia on the other side of the building, also on the first floor, has facilities for billiard and table tennis.
The twin bedroom with frescoed ceilings is probably the most beautiful bedroom in this luxury villa rental in Tuscany. But all bedrooms have a special feature with either painted beams or antique furniture, and all are decorated with a cotton weave made by the local firm Bussatti. The additional five bedrooms, as well as the kitchen, breakfast room and laundry are on the ground floor. In the garden there is another outdoor dining area, and the private pool (15 x 5m) is located a little above the villa on a higher level. Lunch can be served at the pool by the housekeeper.
