The beautifully renovated historic Villa Maruggio luxury villa to rent in Puglia is situated along the Old Salento road that connects Taranto to Maruggio, in the north-west part of the Salento peninsula. The property is surrounded by the famous Manduria vineyards, which produce the popular Primotivo wine, and is also just a few kilometres from beautiful white sand beaches, and the Ionian Sea. The small town of Sava is just 2.5 kms away and Manduria is 7 kms from the property. Evidence of the history of Maruggio, dating back to the Middle Ages, is reflected in the small Knights Templar church right next to the villa dedicated to San Giovanni patron saint of Sava.
The property extends for over 12,500 m2, and filled with olive, almond, fig and pine trees. Closer to the house is an outdoor dining area with a ceramic Mallorcan tiled table decorated with Majorca tiles, a fully equipped cooking area and a furnished gazebo. There is also a swimming pool (6 x 12 m), accessible by wide stairs. In the garden among the olive trees, there is a an open covered patio used as a fitness/gym area with a massage bed and a treadmill,. There is also an outdoor living area and an external kitchen complete and equipped with hob and barbecue, as well as two outdoor showers.
The stone foundations and central core of the villa date back to the 18th century, but have been renovated throughout, including architect designed vaulted stone roofs. There is a large living room has natural linen curtains, and leather art deco armchairs. Dining area and well equipped kitchen, filled with light, and with a lovely table made from the trunk of an old oak tree. There are six double bedrooms, each with its own en suite bathroom. Three of the bedrooms are within the villa, two in the pool house, and one in a separate historic building in the garden. Adjacent to the main building is a covered terrace for outdoor dining area, with a large table and a relaxation area with sofa and comfortable armchairs.
