Originally an historic mill, Villa Abate has been meticulously restored into an elegant Tuscany retreat while carefully preserving its remarkable architectural heritage. The property comprises the main villa and two charming annexes, Il Rosmarino and Il Leccio, surrounded by gardens, mature trees and colourful Mediterranean vegetation. The gentle sound of the Pesa River, rustling leaves and birdsong creates an exceptionally peaceful atmosphere.

Inside the main villa, traditional Tuscan character is beautifully combined with modern comfort. The ground floor features a spacious living room leading to an impressive dining room with a fireplace and original bread oven, alongside a remarkably preserved 4th-century kitchen. A fully equipped modern kitchen, laundry facilities and the luxurious Antique Room Suite, with its private travertine bathroom and shower, complete this level.

Upstairs, a bright living room with an impressive central wooden truss and fireplace provides a welcoming gathering space. Two further suites, I Cipressi and Il Susino, each feature private bathrooms with travertine showers. The I Cipressi Suite also boasts a freestanding bathtub overlooking the beautiful Tuscany gardens.

The Le Macine Suite, located on the garden level, is one of the villa’s most distinctive spaces. Entirely carved from the ancient mill’s former manger, it retains original features connected to the property’s history as a working mill, including details visible within its private bathroom. Its name comes from the historic millstones still preserved in the neighbouring mill room.

The property’s two independent annexes offer additional privacy and flexibility. Il Rosmarino, the larger annex, is arranged over two levels with a double bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor, opening onto a private patio and covered loggia with a dining area. Upstairs, a loft with two single beds overlooks the swimming pool. Il Leccio, formerly an ancient sawmill, sits opposite the main villa and overlooks the park. It features a living room with fireplace, a kitchen with a historic marble sink and a double bedroom with an open shower.

Outside, this luxury villa in Tuscany is surrounded by beautiful gardens and private outdoor spaces. A spacious 15 x 7 metre swimming pool provides the perfect place to cool off during warm Tuscan days, with sun loungers arranged around the pool. Private access to the Pesa River adds another unique feature, allowing guests to enjoy the natural surroundings directly from the property.

The outdoor terraces provide idyllic settings for breakfast and relaxed meals surrounded by greenery, while the historic architecture throughout the property – including exposed wooden beams, brick archways and original mill features – creates an authentic Tuscan atmosphere.

Ideally positioned in the heart of the Chianti region, Villa Abate is approximately 20 miles from Florence and 30 miles from Siena, making it an excellent base for exploring Tuscany’s vineyards, historic towns, restaurants and cultural treasures.

The villa is located 10 mins drive from the highway exit (Tavarnelle). The luxury villa rental is located 20/25 mins drive from Florence, about 40 mins drive from Siena and 10 mins drive from Antinori winery.
