The Villa Fiesole Experience, Florence

Dots White

June 2013

A stay at here comes, not only with the amenities of a beautiful villa with spectacular views over the Tuscan countryside, but also with a staff of three, who will greet you on arrival and serve you a welcome glass of prosecco, fruit and cheese by the swimming pool or under the pergola in the garden. Before your arrival, the refrigerator will be stocked with any basics and Tuscan specialities you request, and the house manager is also an excellent cook, should you wish to sample some local dinners within the comfort of your villa.

Moreover, a driver to take you regularly into central Florence, just 15 minutes away, and visits to some special cultural and culinary highlights can be arranged from this very desirable Tuscan base – some of which you may not find in your guide book! Some examples are below:

Villa La Pietra, Fiesole. 25 minutes from Villa Fiesole.

There are many gardens in Firenze and the surrounding hills, but La Pietra is one of the most spectacular. It is not open to the public, but appointments can be arranged. La Pietra has private events/performances in their magnificent English garden and Limonaia from May through July. During the rest of the year, we can arrange for a private tour of the garden.

Villa Gamberia, Settingnano. 10 minutes from Villa Fiesole.

An historic villa, built in the early 1600s, Villa Gamberaia is located on the hills of Florence, in an exceptional position overlooking the Arno valley. The unique garden plan and setting in the Tuscan landscape have been studied and celebrated by architectural historians and garden designers throughout the centuries.

Palazzo Strozzi, centre of Florence

Rotating contemporary art exhibitions. Tours can be arranged.

The Vasari Corridor, is the passage which links the Uffizi Gallery with the Pitti Palace. Designed by Giorgio Vasari, and built in 1564 by Grand Duke Cosimo 1 de’ Medici, this kilometre long Corridor houses more than 1000 17th and 18th century paintings, and includes self portraits by Rubens, Bernini, Corot, Ingres and Delacroix. The Corridor is not open to the general public and can only be visited by appointment. We can arrange a private tour with an expert English-speaking guide.

Fattoria Di Maiano night safaris: Experience and admire the Italian landscape and wildlife; including foxes, deer, porcupines and pheasants in their natural habitat as well as farm animals like bulls, limousine cows and Amiata Donkeys.

Food Market: Mercato St Ambrogio

This fabulous food market captures the wonderful spirit of Italy. Great selection of cheese, meat, fish and pasta. Fruit and vegetables outside. Tours can be arranged.

Trattoria 4 Leoni

Definitely one of our favourites – great atmosphere and excellent food!

Ora d’Aria

Reasonable price and outstanding Tuscan wine selection.
