With romantic sunsets, stunning beaches and clear blue sea, there is no doubt that the Greek Islands offer some of the world’s most perfect locations for a small family wedding, civil partnership or a larger, more elaborate event. The Luxury Travel Book offers a choice of beautiful luxury villas to rent in Greece, and throughout Europe, some boast a chapel within the grounds, and some offer large terraces with sensational views of the sea and romantic sunsets! Whether you’re seeking a Greek island holiday rental for a couple, a family group, or a larger wedding party, here Susie Marquis recommends nine of the best villas for Greek island nuptials.

Villa Kanoni, Corfu – 9 bedrooms, 18 guests

One of our favourite villas on Corfu is Villa Kanoni, which sits on a quiet 10-acre estate in the south of the island, just a 10-minute drive from Corfu town. Benefitting from sensational sea views, the beautiful lawned gardens are filled with olive and cypress trees, as well as shrubs and flowers and, on a lower level, a large seawater swimming pool. At the pool level, there’s also plenty of room for entertaining or celebrating a special event and the villa is equipped with an outdoor kitchen area, bar and barbecue. There is also a chapel within the grounds that’s surrounded by trees, providing shady spots on even the warmest of summer days.

Villa Chapel, Santorini – 2 bedrooms, 5 guests

Set high above the sea and benefitting from breathtaking views, Villa Chapel is located in the stunning village of Oia, on the north-western tip of the island. From its large private terrace with chromotherapy jacuzzi, guests can enjoy panoramic vistas of the caldera, the famous Santorini sunset, the windmills, Oia castle, and the small colourful houses nestled against the steep volcanic cliffs, which descend to the sea below. A charming 18th century chapel is also situated on the terrace and, though it can’t be used as a wedding venue, it certainly adds to this perfectly romantic and exquisitely beautiful location.

Villa Eros, Santorini – 5 bedrooms, 11 guests

Set on the highest point of the caldera, this beautiful villa just outside the village of Imerovigli offers an amazing venue for a small wedding. Another holiday rental with captivating panoramic views across the Aegean Sea, the backdrop of the magnificent Santorini sunset would make for some truly memorable wedding photos. The extensive terrace has a heated pool, which is partly shaded by a pergola, as well as a furnished sun terrace, an outdoor jacuzzi, shaded seating and dining areas, and a small garden.

Megalochori Caldera, Santorini – 5 bedrooms, 10 guests

Another villa offering the perfect venue for weddings and other special occasions, Villa Megalochori sits in a stunning position on the caldera, overlooking the sea. The spectacular views can be enjoyed from both the first floor of the villa and the huge lower-level terrace, where there’s a large swimming pool and outdoor dining area. The executive chef here can prepare meals, including delicious meat or fish barbecues. Enjoy the complimentary daily breakfast, as well as transfers to and from the airport/port. For guests looking to arrive in style, the property also boasts its own helipad.

Akrotiri Sunset, Santorini – 2 bedrooms, 4 guests

Further along the caldera, near the historic settlement of Akrotiri, guests at Akrotiri Sunset benefit from a complimentary à la carte breakfast each morning, as well as wonderful caldera views and – of course – sensational sunsets. On the furnished terrace of this romantic villa, the heated infinity swimming pool appears to blend into the sea, and there’s a pool bar, sun loungers for relaxing, and an outdoor dining area. The perfect venue for both a small wedding, civil partnership, or other special event, the villa offers furniture and works of art which reflect Santorini’s traditions, architecture and beauty.

Agia Anna Estate, Mykonos – 13 bedrooms, 30 guests

This stunning Mykonos villa rental is situated between the two most popular beaches on the island, Kalo Livadi and Kalafatis, and offers the ideal venue for weddings, civil partnerships and other special events. As well as delivering absolute privacy and incredible sea and sunrise views, the property has a private chapel within its large garden which overlooks the sea. Agia Anna Estate also offers a well-equipped gym, a spa room and a huge infinity swimming pool with an adjacent heated jacuzzi. There’s a pergola with BBQ and dining table seating 16 people, as well as a pool bar. For the height of luxury, there’s even a helipad in the garden, next to the chapel.

Paradise Beach View Retreat, Mykonos – 16 bedrooms, 32 guests

Paradise Beach View Retreat is actually two connected villas, each with a terrace, large dining area, swimming pool and a smaller jacuzzi/children’s pool. The properties can be rented separately, for up to 16 people, or together, for up to 32 people. Situated in the south of the island, between the beaches of Paradise (250m away) and Paraga (300m away), these Mykonos holiday rentals are set in beautiful grounds, each with a lot of private space. The vast outdoor areas and the nearby church make these properties very suitable for weddings, civil partnerships and other special events.

Villa Meria, Kea – 5 bedrooms, 10–12 guests

This exceptional luxury villa to rent on the island of Kea, with its outstanding beauty and stunning sea views, is also ideal for a private wedding. Kea is the northernmost island of the western Cyclades and can be easily reached from the mainland port of Lavrio by a daily ferry service, which takes about 1 hour. The villa is spread across two levels, with and an infinity salt-water swimming pool and outdoor dining area with barbecue. Villa Meria offers plenty of activities for large groups, including tennis and basketball courts, a gym and a spa with hammam and massage room. Offering 5-star service, the villa also has a private chef who will prepare dishes with organic produce from the villa’s garden and the local market.

Villa Sifnos, Sifnos – 8 bedrooms, 18 guests

This beautiful villa sits on a hillside near the picturesque village of Apollonia, with views over the Aegean Sea. The main terrace features an idyllic semi-closed living area and a large table which can seat a bigger group of guests. A few steps away, the outdoor furnished terrace with large swimming pool is shaded by century old pine trees. There’s also a dining area with barbecue for entertaining, a jacuzzi, water gym equipment and a yoga-meditation area. For those looking to tie the knot, Villa Sifnos also has a small Orthodox Church on the premises and all outdoor areas offer captivating views of the medieval character-filled cliff-top village of Castro – perfect for timeless wedding photos.
