Kea is an exceptionally picturesque island hideaway, just a two hour trip away from Athens. The beaches are some of the best in the Cyclades offering beautiful sand and crystal clear waters. The landscape consists of hills and valleys, planted with vines and fruit trees, which run right down to the pretty bays and the sea. The island’s capital, Hora, built in the shape of an amphitheatre, is particularly appealing with its two storey houses with tiled roofs, steep, cobbled alleyways and beautiful churches.
This luxurious, beautifully designed villa we have for rent here is situated at Kabi, in the area of Koundouros, in the south of Kea island. It is just five minutes walk from a quiet and sandy beach, and 25 kms from the port of Kea. The villa sleeps up to 16 people in total and features an L-shaped pool, as well as a lap pool on a lower level, and a jacuzzi and sauna. There is also a tennis court at the property. The wide terraces are perfect for relaxing and entertaining outdoors, with a pergola covered barbecue and large dining area, and comfortable chill-out areas with sofas and sun loungers.
The streamlined, very modern interiors feature large windows allowing for maximum light, exposed stone walls, and are furnished beautifully in neutral colours in a minimalist style.
Sifnos will appeal to those looking for a traditional Greek island, relatively untouched by tourism, with white sand beaches and historically unspoiled villages, churches and monasteries. Apollonia, the island’s capital, is a beautiful town with narrow streets and white-washed houses, also built in the shape of an amphitheatre, spread over three hills. It is just a 7 minute drive from our villa here, and offers excellent tavernas offering fresh fish and other local delicacies.
In contrast to our Kea villa, the newly renovated villa here retains the atmosphere and character of its history as a 19th Century noble house. From its position on a hillside, it has beautiful views over the Aegean Sea. With accommodation for up to 18 people, it sits amdst splendid gardens of wild flowers and herbs, with plenty of quiet spaces to relax with a morning coffee or evening glass of wine with friends and family.
The villa offers a large swimming pool with jacuzzi and water gym equipment, as well as spacious outdoor dining areas. There is also a yoga/meditation area, and a delightful small Orthodox Church. Sifnos can be reached via ferry from Athens, or from one of the Cycladic islands of Folegandros, Ios, Syros, Santorini, Kimolos, Kythnos, Milos, Paros, Serifos and Sikinos.
