About this property

This romantic loft apartment to rent is conveniently situated just a short stroll away from the Plaza del Museo and Seville’s Museum of Fine Arts, one of Spain’s major art galleries boasting one of the most important collections of Spanish Baroque art. It is also very close to the city centre’s main shopping streets, the historical centre, the Guadalquivir River, the Maestranza bull ring, and most of Seville’s main tourist and cultural hotspots. It occupies the ground floor of a 19th Century house, full of original architectural features and historical details. It was one of the first buildings to be built with iron following the industrial revolution, and it was also home to the painter Valeriano Bécquer, brother of the Spanish post-romanticist poet and author Gustavo Adolfo Becquer.

The landscape-painted wall which sets the theatrical tone is a theme followed by the renowned Sevillian interior decorator Amaro Sánchez de Moya, who converted this unique property into a dream home for its owner. He has preserved the structural elements of the original house, including heavy wooden beams and two large iron columns which seem to hold up a stage measuring 5 metres from floor to ceiling. Good use is made of this vertical space, with the apartment being divided into two levels, both visually connected.

The lower level is separated into three distinct living areas by means of a clever arrangement of textiles, such as floor coverings in bold geometrical patterns, and furniture. An open staircase leads to the upper level, a suspended structure with the bedroom, storage area, a small office and bathroom. The main sitting area is equipped with flat screen TV and sound system, and has a comfortable sofa which can be converted into a bed for one person. The décor is a blend of antique pieces, and works of art which blend easily with the modern dining area with a steel and glass table and four Chesca chairs. There is a further sitting area with an ottoman couch upholstered in velvet, a 1970s metal and glass table, ancillary furniture designed by Amaro’s own studio, and restored and luxuriously upholstered French-style easy chairs. The ottoman couch converts to a comfortable double bed. The ground level also houses the modern, well equipped kitchen, and the small, vintage-look guest cloakroom. Further amenities include air conditioning, heating and Wi-Fi internet.
