Luxury villas to rent on Ibiza

Ibiza has long had the reputation as a beach and party paradise, but the island does also have a lot to offer families and those looking for a relaxing holiday, without the nocturnal entertainment. Away from the beaches there is a wealth of history and culture to be found in the interior of the island and also in the ancient capital city of Eivissa (Ibiza Town). Situated in the south of the island, it is one of the best preserved medieval towns in Europe, and has been awarded historic status by UNESCO. Not to be missed sights include the 14th century cathedral of Santa Maria d’Eivissa at the top of the Old Town (Dalt Vila), and the lively town also has a great choice of restaurants and bars.

Ibiza’s long and fascinating history dates from, 654BC, when it was discovered by the Carthaginians, then conquered by the Romans in 123BC, invaded by Moors in the 9th Century, and invaded and conquered by the Catalans. These influences have contributed to the island’s distinctive cuisine, which stems from the cultivation of farmland, hunting and fishing for centuries. Seafood features predominantly, together with lamb, and local goat’s cheese and herbs.

The island has some truly beautiful beaches to be enjoyed throughout its long summer season, which can be explored from the comfort of a luxury villa to rent in Ibiza. Some of the best known ones include Aguas Blanca, Cala Jondal, Cala Tarida, Cala Benirras, Cala Xucla, Calo des Moro (spectacular sunsets), Las Salinas and Playa den Bossa, Cala Conta and Cala Bassa. Cala d’Hort is also popular for its sandy beach and superb view of Es Vedrà, the mystical rock in the sea on the south-west of the island. For those looking for sporting activities, there are also plenty of options, such as horse riding, golf, tennis and underwater diving. Traditional popular towns on the island, easily accessible from our luxury villa rentals, include San Josep, Es Cubells, Santa Gertrudis, San Llorenc and Santa Eulalia.
