Rio Torto

From its location at the heart of the Douro World Heritage Site, this luxury villa to rent in the Douro Valley is on an organic vineyard estate, which produces premium wine. It is situated on a high plateau on the banks of the Rio Torto, a tributary south of the Douro River. Over 100 years old, the villa has been recently renovated and offers the perfect relaxing retreat for a family or group of friends. 

The very well equipped and comfortable interiors, include a TV room (65 inch TV with all Sky sports channels included) also with DVD player and Blue Ray player, ideal for cinema evenings or escaping the hottest hours of the day. This room also opens onto a vine-covered pergola area for outdoor dining with a barbecue. The luxury holiday villa rental in the Douro Valley has a swimming pool (15 x 6m, depth 1.2m – 2.5m, Roman steps access), which can be heated, as well as a table tennis and a football table. There are mosquito nets on all the windows. 

Being a wine producing estate, the rental of the luxury villa in the Douro Valley includes a guided tour of the winery, as well as a tasting. The estate also produces olive oil for guests to enjoy during their stay, as well as fruit trees, with delicious seasonal fresh fruit such as cherries,figs,damsons,peaches,apples,pears,oranges and lemons.

Accommodation:

Lowest Level

Entrance hall. Family bedroom with super-king size bed, plus extra pull-out for 1 or 2 children, and a shower bathroom. Twin bedroom (2 beds of 0,90 x 2m) with en-suite shower bathroom.

Upper Level, with beautiful views

Very well equipped kitchen with access to pool terrace. Dining room, seating up to 10 – 12 people. Living room. Master bedroom with super-king size bed and shower bathroom

Lower Level

Very spacious TV family room (opening onto terraces/garden). Twin bedroom (0,90 x 2m beds) with en-suite shower bathroom. Twin bedroom (also 0,90 x 2m.) with en-suite full bathroom. 

All the twin bedrooms can be made into double beds on request. All the shower bathrooms have rain showers as well as handheld showers, plus heated towel rails, and hairdryers are provided. A baby cot (with linen) and a high chair are available on request. There is also an outside laundry room with both washing machine and dryer.

Staff and services included:

Cleaning service 2 hours daily except Sundays. Pool and garden maintenance once a week.

Basic welcome hamper supplied on arrival (including estate produced table wine and olive oil plus fresh seasonal produce, as well as drinking water, beers, juice/soft drinks, milk, coffee, tea, bread, butter, honey, biscuits, local cheese and olives. Pool towels are provided.

Welcome meal left ready for guests to heat-up and serve. A guided tour of the winery as well as a tasting is included in full week rentals

Early mornings 3 times a week, a small white van stops by with other local produce from the region such as fresh bread, eggs and fruit for you to buy.

WINE EXPERIENCE WEEKENDS OFFERED IN SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER:

Based on 4 nights/8 guests/4 bedrooms use, there is a bespoke experience of the Harvest Season, hosted by the producer himself; as well as an hour-long Douro River boat excursion with picnic lunch, a local Port winery visit and all meals.  

Please note: As a working estate, with machinery and farming products, the property is not suitable for people with mobility issues, or young children. Children under the age of 7 years are only accepted with a signed disclaimer.
