This historical luxury house to rent sits in arguably the most prime location in Venice, right on the edge of the Grand Canal, close to Piazza San Marco. Built in the late 19th century for the Austrian Prince Fritz Hohenlohe-Waldenburg, the most famous inhabitant here was actually the poet and politician, Gabriele D’Annunzio. More recently the house has been renovated by the Italian architect, Massimiliano Locatelli, who has returned the property to its original splendour, while at the same time, adding contemporary features.
South-facing, and overlooking the garden, and the Grand Canal beyond, the luxury holiday rental in Venice is on three levels, with large windows allowing for light, reflecting from the canal. There are three entrances, one directly from the Grand Canal through a side garden door, a main entrance, and a service entrance to the rear.
The main living area on the ground floor, has French windows opening to the spacious garden, including rose bushes and pomegranates. A canopied dining area here is also ideal for enjoying breakfast, long lunches and beautiful ‘al fresco’ dinners. On the rooftop is an 'altana' (Venetian terrace) equipped with sun loungers, which can be accessed by an external staircase.
