Discover Porto Heli

It is known for its thick pine vegetation, its crystal clear sea waters and its mild year round climate. Moreover, it is a very convenient base for visiting the islands of Spetses and Hydra, and famous historical sites, including the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, the old town of Nafplio and the antiquities of Mycenae.

Spetses is just 2 miles away and can be reached by private boat taxi (5 minutes) or a regular ferry service (10 – 15 minutes). The island is great for a full day escape, or just an afternoon coffee break in the port of Dapia, or for a night out at one of the many fashionable bars and clubs. There are beaches within walking distance of the port, or more secluded beaches can be reached by boat. Hydra is about 45 minutes – 1 hour away by regular Flying Dolphin service and also well worth a visit. A stunningly beautiful small island, its narrow streets, lined with picturesque houses, wind up the steep hillside from the very pretty port. There are numerous dining choices here ranging from small tavernas, to sophisticated restaurants and bars overlooking the sea. Beaches can also be reached by boat.

Just 55 kms north of Porto Heli lies the village of ancient Epidaurus, with is archaeological sites, including its 4th Century Theatre. Since 1952 it has been hosting the Summer Festival of Ancient Epidaurus, one of Europe’s most famous cultural events. About 75 kms north-west is the picturesque and historical town of Nafplion, once the capital of the Greek state and well worth a one-day visit.

Boats can be rented at Porto Heli (along with watersports’ equipment, such as windsurfing and waterskiing).
