With its natural beauty, sandy beaches with crystal clear waters, and traditional villages, it is no wonder that Paros right up there as one of the most popular villa rental destinations in Greece. The capital, Parikía, is also the main harbour of the island with ferry and hydrofoil connections to other islands. If arriving by sea, one of the first sights you will see is the port's traditional windmill, which has become a trademark of the island. A few minutes walk from the port will bring you to the old heart of the town, with its picturesque whitewashed cubic architecture, coloured doors and balconies, and narrow streets. The castle (Kastro) dates from the 13th century and is at the highest point of the town.

The narrow stone-paved streets are lined with whitewashed houses, with blue doors and windows, and flower-filled tubs overflowing with geraniums and bougainvillea. The very pretty port is filled with colourful fishing boats and, bordering the port are numerous tavernas, bars and restaurants.
