The capital, Parikía, is also the main harbour of the island with ferry and hydrofoil connections to other islands. If arriving by sea, one of the first sights you will see is the port's traditional windmill, which has become a trademark of the island. A few minutes walk from the port will bring you to the old heart of the town, with its picturesque whitewashed cubic architecture, coloured doors and balconies, and narrow streets. The castle (Kastro) dates from the 13th century and is at the highest point of the town.

Just 10 kms east of Parikia, lies the picturesque fishing village of Naoussa. Despite its popularity, Naoussa has managed to retain its traditional character and charm. The narrow stone-paved streets are lined with whitewashed houses, with blue doors and windows, and flower-filled tubs overflowing with geraniums and bougainvillea. The very pretty port is filled with colourful fishing boats and, bordering the port are numerous tavernas, bars and restaurants.

Paros is renowned for its beaches and excellent windsurfing, and our selection of luxury villa rentals in Paros either have direct beach access, or are within a short drive. Among the best known beaches is Kolimbithres, located in the bay of Naoussa. It consists of a number of small sandy coves which can be accessed either by road, then a pathway, or by small caiques which leave regularly from the port of Naoussa. Also worth a mention is Golden Beach, south of Parikia, a 700m long stretch of sandy beach, favoured by windsurfers for its ideal conditions.
