Munich is the largest city in Southern Germany and is, surprisingly, only a mere 90-minute drive from the Alps. It is very easy to immerse yourself in the culture and history of Munich. You can get lost for days in the Deutsches Museum, said to be the world's largest science and technology collection, or in any of a number of the other museums and galleries. There is also a plethora of beautiful churches and other buildings to explore. In terms of shopping, the Maximilianstrasse is the hub of Munich's retail shopping and no visit to this city would be complete without a browse through its many and varied shops. Other sights include the Olympic Park and Stadium, and the BMW Welt, a pilgrimage for any car lovers.
Munich is also well known for playing host to the world famous Oktoberfest. The 16-day annual festival takes place from late September to the first weekend in October and brings in hordes of up to 5 million every year. While people largely associate Oktoberfest with large beers and Lederhosen, there is also plenty of live music and other attractions for visitors. Our luxury accommodation in Munich is in two luxury rental apartments, in an ideal location for attending the festival, and the many other attractions in the city.
